All the players start with the same number of chips and only the winner collects them all.

Shootout Tournament

This is a variation on elimination poker where the table ends with one winner and the entire table winners are gathered into one table for a ranking where every player is a winner but obviously the first takes more than the second and the second more than the third.

Satellite Tournament

This is the first tournament to start with.  In satellite tournament, it is the best warming up for the higher stake poker tournaments.  It can be considered as a qualification tournament or may use it to gather the multi-thousand entering fees with playing small fees only of the satellite tournament. The strategies of the tournament are different from the ordinary ring games so you should take a closer look at the tips of the tournaments.

Learn from the Pro Poker Players

It is a good strategy for the beginners, just get the basics of the final table strategy from watching the experienced players enduring the critical moments. Getting a recorded DVD for the grand finale is one of the best ideas where you will be able to view it several times and learn the basic moves.

Ring Game Strategies

When you play a tournament you should not forget that you cannot apply the ring game strategies as they will take you nowhere except outside the tournament.

Raising on the Flop or Turn

If you have a weak hand, then you need to bluff your opponents by raising the bet after the flop or river to give the impression that you have a stronger hand. It may cause another poker player to fold the winning hand. If your opponent has a strong hand you are likely to get caught while bluffing.

Poker Face

This is the core of all poker tournament strategies. The player needs to know how to develop a solid face that doesn’t reflect any impression except those that you want to deliver to your opponents.
